Springtime music 2017

Spring is here.  We are sharing new music and a children’s book.

“Wisdom, the elephant used by God” and the song “I Will Follow”

Grand daughter Aliyah is helping at story time and singing along. Wisdom is about a brave little elephant with big faith to follow God. She and her parents travel from south Africa to north Africa. God protects them through many dangers and they find a man named Noah building an ark. This is a fun adventure animal parable to add to your home library or read in Sunday school class readings.

We recorded the song and audiobook at Blue Chair Recording Studio in Austin, Arkansas during Spring break 2017. Always fun creating new music. Thank you to our engineer Darian Stribling and musician Tim Crouch.

We sang at Scott, Arkansas. The annual dinner is to celebrate all that our Arkansas farmers do to feed America. Thank you Anne Turner. Always a great event.

We sang at a Hawaiian luau at Andover Opry.

We sang at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church Adult Fellowship March luncheon and received a standing ovation. Thank you Max

We recorded four new songs this year: “I Will Follow” and “Joshua” for the Animals Used by God series. “Leap of Faith” a lullaby that Rod and I composed together. and “Nothing Better Than You” a love song written by Rod Ragsdale, that everyone will love. We are in process and hopefully will finish by May. An exciting Spring has begun. Life is fun.

Happy Spring all.

Music by Rod and Carol August 2016

We always thank our seniors for the contribution they have made to our great nation. They are always a wonderful audience to sing for and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to do so. We end our shows with God Bless America blending two of our greatest passions into music- God and country. Singing at Fox Ridge in North Little Rock on a Sunday afternoon in August. Rod playing his harmonica and guitar, telling jokes and making folks laugh. We sing a variety of music and since we return each month we can learn music they request, such as Tennessee Waltz, Summertime and How Great Thou Art.

More Hawaiian fun at The Manor in Little Rock. Was able to share about my Ohana in Hilo that I love so much: Rainbow Falls, snow-capped Mauna Kea, Kilauea Volcano. Oahu where my daughter was stationed in the Army, North Shore, Sea Life Park. I played my ukulele and we danced a bit of hula.

Then we went back to our regularly schedule programs of country, folk, patriotic, gospel and blues at Brookdale, Elmcroft and Fox Ridge till the end of August. Then school started and I went back to teaching music at St. Mark’s Day School where I work during the school year.

June and July 2016 Carol and Rod Music

June 2016 we found ourselves singing at a country western show at Fox Ridge in North Little Rock. I loved the themed parties y’all. YeeHaw this was fun! Rod and I put on our cowboy hats and sang all our country and folk songs.

I went down south to Ft. Polk, Louisiana and read and sang to my grand daughter Aliyah’s school on the Army base while awaiting the arrival on a new grandchild. Aliyah has helped me present this story several times now from Hawaii to Virginia about her military mommy, the title of the book is of course, “Military Mommy.”

When I got back to Little Rock, we sang at Elmcroft for their Birthday party.

Happy 4th of July at Elmcroft in Maumelle and Brookdale in Little Rock.

Hawaiian summer reading program with stories, songs, and hula at the Maumelle Public Library was lots of fun. We will be presenting a Christmas program December 10, 2016 at 11:30am.

Golfing in the library maybe a first at the Clinton’s Children’s library and learning center Summer reading program. Rod shows children how to putt and reads his first golfing story called “The Adventures of Andrew on the Golf Course.” I’ll tell you, they were very interested and had alot of fun.

Then of course we had to do a bit of hula because we always do during the summer programs and its expected and all the kids get out there and have lots of fun. Some of our Arkansas kids have never seen the ocean, so I enjoy telling them all about my beloved Hawaii, where I lived for 15 years.

All our Hawaiian, military and golf stories are found on Amazon.  “Military Mommy” by Carol Dabney and “The Adventures of Andrew on the Golf Course” by Rod Ragsdale. Please check out all our storybooks for Children and consider them for Christmas gifts. Thank you for your support. We have two new Christmas books this year: “The Adventures of Andrew on the Golf Course -Book Four -Golfing with Santa.” and “Santa’s North Pole Princess”

Here are some pictures of our events in May of 2016. We started out at the Scott Fire and Rescue Department fundraiser dinner. Scott farming community has a special place in our hearts because we met at the Scott’s Plantation Settlement Cotton Festival 3 years ago.

Singing at Nursing Homes, a great generation part 2, Jan-April 2016

Singing at nursing homes and for assisted living residents is so rewarding. They seem to appreciate the music we share from the oldies, country, patriotic, gospel, soft rock, Disney, Hawaiian, and folk. We take pictures of where we have been but do not take pictures of the their faces, however it is their faces that touch my heart when we sing a song and I see them go from sitting half asleep in their wheel chairs to their eyes lighting up and begin to clap and sing along. There is something wonderful in those faces when they start to remember through a song. It makes me wonder what kind of life did they have? What war, what work, what love, what families they had? My father had Alzheimer’s and forgot so much, but when I sang a song he remembered he could sing every word. Those songs would lite up in his eyes and he would say, “You made my day” so I found music reaches a part of our heart, music goes to the soul like nothing else can. It’s amazing and God has blessed me with the passion of music. I teach music to children at school during the mornings and the afternoons I sing at nursing homes. It is my gift, so I sing.

We sing and tell stories for classrooms, festivals and nursing homes. These are some of the nursing homes we enjoyed entertaining in 2015. It’s wonderful to see the folk’s eyes light up when they hear a song that brings back fond memories.
